April 2011 Office Furniture Outlet earned certification as a
Women Owned Business Enterprise (WBE). The certification process requires
documented proof that a business is in fact a woman-owned and controlled
business. Most local and national government purchasing agents track and/or have
programs for doing business with these types of businesses. This is also true
for many publicly-held corporations as well as larger private corporations. The
program's intent is to encourage procurement officers to utilize women-owned to
encourage procurement officers to utilize women-owned firms at a higher level in
both the number of firms awarded contracts and the dollar amounts awarded to
them.
